Information for Authors
If you are a commercially published author of book-length fiction or nonfiction, we’d love to have you submit reviews.
In creating the website, we have merely provided a platform. WritersareReaders.com will truly succeed only when writers enthusiastically embrace the project as their own and develop a habit of submitting reviews.
Books reviewed must have been published within one year of the submission of the review. It’s fine to review a book published earlier if it has been republished in any book-length format (e.g. mass market or trade paperback) within the previous year. In general, visitors to the site appear most interested in the most recently published books. Reviews of books not-yet-published are of special interest. These reviews will be featured a second time on the WritersareReaders.com home page when the book is published.
Writers can also support the site by spreading word of WritersareReaders.com to agents, editors, and fellow authors. In addition to attracting more fiction writers, we’re also eager to add authors of nonfiction books to our list of contributors, and we want to remind both fiction and nonfiction writers that we’re happy to receive reviews of nonfiction books.
Please carefully read the information below and complete the enrollment form.
Once we’ve received your form, we will use the information you’ve supplied for verification purposes. For your protection, we need to make certain the email we received is from you - not someone pretending to be you. Once we've verified that you are you, we'll send you the email address to which you may send your reviews. Please note it is by virtue of this verified email address that we know we are communicating with you. Should you need to change your email address, please advise us in advance using your current, verified address. Otherwise, you will need to enroll again with your new address so we can once again verify we are communicating with you.
Thank you for your interest in contributing to the web site.
We look forward to hearing from you.
General Guidelines:
1. Who may review. Any commercially published author of book-length fiction or nonfiction is welcome to submit a review. Authors who are self-published or published only electronically are not eligible.
2. Books eligible for review. Any commercially published book-length work published within one year of the review submission can be reviewed. Books with rollovers to trade or mass market within the year are also eligible. Reviews of books prior to their publication are welcome. Reviewed books may be fiction or nonfiction (except technical/textbook). Electronic and self-published works are excluded.
Within the above guidelines, the choice of book is entirely at the discretion of the reviewer.
Authors should feel free to review books of any type regardless of the area in which they personally write.
Reviews of books previously reviewed at WritersareReaders.com are appropriate if they provide a fresh perspective.
3. Length, format, and content. There is no maximum limit on review length, but a minimum of 300 words is preferred.
While there is no restriction on the content of books reviewed, the reviews themselves should be professional in tone and anticipate a readership that includes a very broad spectrum of age and sensitivity. If the content of your review is appropriate for a major newspaper, there should be no problem.
There is no required format for reviews. The structure and writing style of reviews will reflect the experience and stylistic preferences of the professional writers who create them.
Reviews may, of course, be negative, but abusive or malicious reviews are not permitted.
We reserve the right to reject any review if, solely in our own judgment, its content is inappropriate for WritersareReaders.com.
4. Reviewer bio. We will be pleased to publish information about the reviewer and cover art of a reviewer’s recent or pending publication.
5. Previous publication. Reviews are to be written expressly and exclusively for WritersareReaders.com. They may not have been previously published (including Internet post) in whole or in part - in any form - anywhere.
6. Copyright. Reviewers must represent that the work submitted is their own and that they own the copyright.
7. Fair Use. Reviews found on WritersareReaders.com may be freely quoted subject only to "Fair Use" limitations including proper crediting of both reviewer and source ( www.WritersareReaders.com ).
8. Copyright and Fair Use issues. Copyright abuse presents unique issues on the Internet, not the least of which is the problem of “scrapers” who steal (scrape) the entire content of web sites and publish it on their own site. We intend to defend our content aggressively. If content from WritersareReaders.com is utilized other than by the “Fair Use” standard, we intend to respond.
In order to most effectively accomplish this, we have adopted the following. When you submit a review to WritersareReaders.com, you transfer the copyright to us, and we immediately grant back to you full and unrestricted use of the material subject only to the requirement that when the material is published elsewhere, the original publisher (WritersareReaders.com) is credited.
For our part, we will publish your review at WritersareReaders.com, where it will be available free of charge to the public. Others may utilize this material subject to the “Fair Use” standard, crediting both the author of the review and WritersareReaders.com.
9. Posting of reviews. Reviews will be posted as soon as possible after they are received.

By submitting a review to WritersareReaders.com, you are certifying that you are the author of the review, that it has not been previously published in any form - in whole or in part - anywhere, including the Internet, and that you own the copyright to the material you have submitted. By submitting the review, you transfer the copyright to WritersareReaders.com. We immediately grant back to you full and unrestricted use of the material subject only to the requirement that when the material is published elsewhere, the original publisher, WritersareReaders.com is credited.

Instructions for completing the Reviewer Enrollment form.
1. Name
Provide the name, or names, under which you write and would like us to publish your reviews.
2. Email address
Provide your best email address for direct correspondence and from which you anticipate sending reviews. (Our "submit review" email address will accept email only from addresses we authorize it to accept. If you change email addresses, you will need to notify us of the new address using the original one.)
3. Contact information
To protect you, the reviewer, and maintain the integrity of the web site, we need to be able to verify that you are really you – not someone pretending to be you. If we know you, the verification process is simple.
If we don’t know you, we will need a contact.
The easiest contact is someone we know. This can be someone we know personally or someone who has already published on WritersareReaders.com, who can confirm the email address you've provided and that you are you - not someone pretending to be you. Please tell the contact that you're interested in writing reviews for WritersareReaders.com and that we will be contacting them. You do not need to provide additional information (contact address and contact phone number) if the contact you choose is someone we know.
Alternatively, you may provide the name, address, and listed phone number of your agent or editor. We will verify the number and contact them directly. This is to prevent a person pretending to be you from providing the phone number of someone who will pretend to be your agent or editor. Again, please let them know that you have referred us to them.
4. Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
In order to have your enrollment considered, you must enter “Yes.”
