Why did you create Writersarereaders.com?
Traditionally, authors of book-length works are only marginally involved in the book review process. This strikes us as odd, since commercially published authors have unique expertise in - and understanding of - the writing process. We wanted to create a forum where published authors could freely apply these special insights.
Who owns and operates WritersareReaders.com?
Husband and wife, and published novelists, Katherine Stone and Jack Chase.
Commercially published authors of book-length fiction and nonfiction.
What kinds of books are reviewed?
Commercially published book-length works of fiction and nonfiction. Highly technical nonfiction works are not reviewed.
Who decides what book to review?
The reviewer. The book is chosen by the reviewer from the universe of books he or she happens to read. The reviewer writes a review only when there's a book that, for whatever reason, he or she wants to review.
No.
Do reviews have to be positive?
Absolutely not.
Why do reviews tend to be positive?
Reviewers’ motivations are their own, but we believe simple human nature is at work here. Since our reviewers have complete freedom to select whatever book they want - and, importantly, because submission of a review is entirely voluntary - they’re generally not highly motivated to expend a lot of time and energy on a book they don’t like. They’re not writing positive reviews of books they hate, they’re merely choosing to review books they like.
Must I register or pay to use this web site?
No.
Just click on the navigation bar at the top of each page. You may search for reviews by the reviewer name or by book title or author. All lists are alphabetical.
Can I contribute a review to this web site?
Absolutely. If you’re an author of book-length work, please click on “Information for Authors” on the navigation bar.
Can I use content from WritersareReaders.com on another web site or in print?
Yes. But, since all content is copyrighted, you must comply with “Fair Use” restrictions which restrict the amount of material that may be quoted and require proper crediting of both the author of the review and WritersareReaders.com.
